Recycling has been part of our story from the very beginning.
Where It All Began
Growing up in Southern California, founder Jamie Miller spent time collecting aluminum cans and cat food containers with his dad, taking them to the redemption center in Lake Forest. What started as a simple way to earn a little extra money became something more — a fascination with commodities and the idea that what people throw away still has value.
Those early experiences planted the seed for a passion that would eventually lead to the creation of Golden Standard Recycling.

Why Golden Standard Recycling Exists
Owasso is one of the fastest-growing cities in Oklahoma. With that growth should come access to the kinds of services thriving communities rely on — including simple, reliable recycling.
But when Jamie relocated to the area, it became clear those options were limited.

A Mother's Legacy

Jamie’s mother, Duana, served for many years as a board member for Sierra Sage in Southern California and dedicated much of her life to environmental stewardship and helping others. Her example of service and care for the community continues to shape the values behind Golden Standard Recycling.
Sequoia & Sage
Two Goldens Who Inspired It All
The journey that led to Golden Standard Recycling was also influenced by two special golden retrievers — Sequoia and Sage. Sequoia was a loyal companion whose presence left a lasting mark on Jamie and his family. The desire to build a life and business that allowed him to care for her during a difficult time helped turn the idea for the company into reality.
